Alessandro Russo (Catanzaro, 1953) lives and works in Milan where he teaches Decoration at the Brera Academy. In over forty years of painting he has fueled an experience of solid personality in the European figurative scene. Among the first personal exhibitions that of 1973 at the Astragalus Gallery in Catanzaro; in 1979 in Milan, at the Lusca Gallery and at the Schettini Gallery and in 1981 in Florence, at the Pananti Gallery, in 1990 Pinacoteca di Taverna. He participates in the first review of the MAC, Museum of Contemporary Art of the Academy of Catanzaro (2005) and Galleria Antonio Battaglia, Milan (2006). In 2009 and 2010 he exhibited at the Donec Capiam Studio Gallery and Antonio Battaglia Gallery. In 2011 the Rocco Guglielmo Foundation and the Municipality of Catanzaro organized an anthological exhibition at the San Giovanni Monumental Complex, curated by Gianluca Marziani, in the same year he was presented at the Italian Pavilion, Venice Biennale, curated by Vittorio Sgarbi. In 2016, the Antonio Battaglia Gallery hosted a solo exhibition with his works from 2010 to 2016, on the occasion of the new volume "Percorsi-Journey" presented in the Napoleonic Hall at the Brera Academy. In October 2017 he was invited by Panorama magazine to exhibit in the Milanese stop of the "Panorama d’Italia" tour, with a personal exhibition dedicated to Milan, set up at Palazzo Durini. An exhibition in China is being prepared with works that have as their subject the recent transformation of some international megacities.
